Alex’s Burn Recovery Fund

I am not one to ask for help I am always helping other people whenever and wherever I can, but now I am in need of help.
I was working at my summer landscaping job trying to make a little extra spending money before leaving for college at Virginia Tech, when I unknowingly cut down and carried a “giant hogweed” plant. The sap of this plant causes a reaction after it comes in contact with your skin and then your skin is exposed to the sun. I suffered second and third degree burns on my face and arm. I was transferred to the Burn ICU at VCU and treated for 3 days but still have daily wound care which requires debriding the burns to remove dead skin.
I wont be able to work the rest of the summer, and we also don’t know if my employers’ insurance is going to cover medical bills. I have a scholarship to Virginia Tech with the Army ROTC but I may end up loosing it now because of medical disqualification.
If you can help it would be great. I will use any funds for supplies for college if I can still attend this fall, and medical bills from being in the Burn ICU.
Below is the link to the local news story I did to help bring awareness to this horrible plant. Please watch. Thank you!
