Alex's Friends in Need 2023

Hi, it’s Alex.

This year I set up my second GoFundMe page for “Alex’s Friends In Need” to continue my efforts to give something back. An effort to “Do unto others ” as you would have them do unto you. This year, I have experienced so much, ranging from fun kid life experiences, like going away to my first sleep-away camp, to very adult and somber experiences like becoming aware of my Grandmother’s struggle with cancer. One of the things I recently became aware of was that although cancer mostly affects older people, it also affects children. It’s bad enough that cancer affects older people but imagine how terrible it might be affecting a child.

Instead of birthday gifts for my 13th birthday, I am asking my friends, family and anyone else, to consider making a charitable donation to Sunrise Association Day Camps. I can’t think of a better way to give something back.

This year I joined travel volleyball (which I love). My first away tournament happened to be at the Friedberg JCC. While I was there I learned that Sunrise Association Day Camps hosts a summer camp at the Friedberg JCC for children with cancer. Sunrise Association Day Camps are the world’s only dedicated day camps for children with cancer and their siblings. They offer their camps free of charge to kids with cancer.

Sunrise Association Day Camps have been providing memorable summers since 2006 for children ages 3 1/2–16.
