Alex's Second Chance

On Wednesday, February 15th our beloved Alex suffered a serious snowmobile accident. His injuries include a severed spine at T8 T9, a contusion to his right lung, two broken shoulder blades, and a bruised heart. Alex was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester two days later where he underwent two major spinal surgeries. The damage was so severe to his spine that Alex is now paralyzed from the waist down. He is still in Rochester recovering and getting stronger each and every day.
We thought that February 15th was the hardest day of our lives, but for Alex, some really difficult times are ahead. Recovery, rehabilitation and learning how to be a different version of himself is in his future.
Alex is the type of human being who will do anything for anyone. His family and friends are his foundation. Alex has spent endless hours helping his family and friends in every way possible. He is a helper and now it’s our time to help him.
Alex’s goal is to be as independent as possible. We would like to raise money to help him achieve that goal. In the short term he will need financial assistance with medical costs and paying bills. As he continues with rehabilitation towards his goal of being independent, there will be expenses related to adaptive equipment such as a wheelchair and modifications to his truck and residence.
Alex is an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsmen. To know Alex, is to know that his smile brightens a room, his positive attitude is infectious and the relationships in his life take a front seat to everything else. Please help me in showing Alex that he is important to us, that his recovery is important and significant in our lives. Help me help our friend make a new life. A life that may be different, but is just as bright.
