Alfonso's Transplant and Recovery

Donation protected

On April 13th, 2019 we had a gender reveal for Arlene and Alfonso Ceja to celebrate their second child, but unfortunately the night ended with a terrible tragedy. Alfonso was mistakenly shot and severely injured to the point of doctors giving him 1% chance of living. With all the faith and hope we carried, as well as the amazing doctors/surgeons at San Joaquin General Hospital, he was able to make it out alive! There were many obstacles faced within his health recovery; on May 20th Alfonso was rushed to an emergency surgery due to constant bleed-outs, and at the same time, his wife Arlene went in for her sixth month pregnancy checkup, when her doctor stated that she was four centimeters dilated forcing her to go into premature labor.

With both Arlene and Alfonso in separate hospitals, the families had to split support for both members. Arlene had an emergency c-section, and gave birth to their babygirl Ariadne. The baby was too small to breathe on her own, so a tracheostomy had to be inputted; however, the baby's lungs were not fully developed and after 32 minutes of trying, she passed.  As devastating as it was, Arlene never lost faith. Soon after, we found out that Alfonso's small intestine was completely removed in order to be able to save his life, leaving him with JP drains, a wound vacuum, and IV fluids inserted for the rest of his life. The doctors have given us a little bit of hope on getting a transplant for Alfonso, and possibly being able to perform normal daily activities such as brushing his teeth, drinking water, and playing with his two boys. We have made this Gofund me page for anybody who would like to help Arlene and Alfonso in these hard times. 100% of the donations will go to the transplant recovery, transportation, and other medical bills. Arlene and Alfonso are extremely grateful to everyone who has consistently supported with prayer chains, and positive wishes! If you would like to help or spread awareness, please share this post!
