Support Alfredo Alonzo battle with cancer

Hello family and friends,

Alfredo Alonzo is a grandparent, a brother, an uncle, family man who needs our help more than ever. Some weeks ago, Alfredo got the news that he was diagnosed with Intestinal cancer. The cancer is in the later stages and has spread to some of his organs. Alfredo has been out of work for a little over four weeks since his diagnosis and will be out of work throughout the rest of his chemotherapy treatment. He started working in the restaurant business as a waiter long ago and is still working as a waiter. Like he always says, "these young waiters have nothing on me, I work all these hours and days, and I am never tired" lol. He always has an energy and hubris that makes you laugh and say okay abuelito.

Monday, August 15, was his first day of chemotherapy. Talking to him on the phone Sunday night, he was in good spirits, determined to beat this cancer. Alfredo has a sense of optimism, and you know the same Tio Alfredo we all know, cracking jokes and sharing laughs. Joking that he can't eat his fresh hand-made tortillas or his pan. He has been holding information about his diagnosis because he doesn't want his family and friends to worry. Of course, we worry and care about him dearly because he is a man with a big heart.

As he begins his battle with cancer, I am kindly asking for any support for him and his family as he enters this new obstacle in his life. As he said, he isn't worried about the cost of the treatment; he is more concerned about the bills to pay to keep his family afloat. He was a significant source of the household income, working about six days a week and many hours. I appreciate anything you can contribute, and if unable to give, we ask that you keep him and his family in his prayers as he takes on this cancer. #BeatCancer
