**In Loving Memory of Alfredo**
On October 19, 2023, just two days after our 29th anniversary, my love and best friend, Alfredo, passed away with me and our son by his side. He was a gentle soul overflowing with kindness, curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to others. He always had a song for every situation and loved to laugh. His departure has left a void that words fail to capture.
Alfredo was the embodiment of selflessness and curiousity. His days were spent nurturing not just his family but also his students, the environment, and the countless lives he touched. Teaching was his passion, his eyes lighting up with enthusiasm every time he shared his knowledge or discovered a new way to teach. His love for plants and nature mirrored his nurturing spirit, a reminder of his boundless curiosity and deep respect for all living things. He was moved by music (mostly the Beatles) and history and all things plants.
This year, as he battled illness, he shielded those he loved from the extent of his pain. Many of you may be surprised as he faced his struggle with quiet bravery that was as characteristic of him as his ever-present smile. His summer was marked by hospital stays, medication adjustments, and the necessity to step away from teaching, a role that brought him immeasurable joy.
As I navigate life without him, I find myself confronted with overwhelming medical bills and final expenses. True to his nature, Alfredo was discreet about his needs, but he was adamant that I should never endure hardship because of his illness. He kept pushing me to "do what I need to do and not worry" about him as if I would leave his side. He would want me to reach out, even though it goes against his private disposition.
I have taken time off work to stand by his side these last six months, and my business has taken a backseat amidst the emotional whirlwind. In this challenging time, I thank our friends and family for their support these last weeks. And now I need your help again. Your kindness and generosity will help ease the burden of these financial obligations and serve as a testament to the love and compassion Alfredo shared with the world.
I can almost hear his voice, encouraging me to ask for help when needed. Telling me to be brave and open myself to possibilities. In his honor, I am reaching out with this fundraiser, a tribute to a man who gave endlessly without expecting anything in return. Every little bit helps, and your contribution will be a cherished reminder of the community surrounding Alfredo with love.
Thank you for considering this request. Your support means more than words can express, and I am deeply grateful for the love and compassion that continue to surround us.
Con amor y abrazos,
