Art League Education Fund
Tax deductible
Organized May 23, 1962 and incorporated as a tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation May 15, 1979, the purpose of Art League of Henderson County
(ALHC) is the promotion, development, and enjoyment of the visual arts. Today we honor this legacy by providing education grants to our local schools and student artists, community outreach, exhibitions and workshops.
The Art League of Henderson County has a membership of over one hundred artists and art lovers and is one of the oldest established art organizations in North Carolina. Membership is not restricted to Henderson County, either. All are welcome to join.
At the February 2016 meeting, nine Henderson County art teachers were awarded gift certificates totalling $2200. These funds go a long way in helping the dedicated teachers purchase much needed art supplies for their classrooms. The 2016 teacher awards, plus prize money presented to the secondary student art winners at the Students and Mentors exhibitions, has depleted the ALHC education budget. In order to continue supporting our teachers and art students, we must explore new avenues of fund raising. This Go Fund Me page was created to that end and is specifically to raise funds for the education fund.
The photograph accompanying this page shows the teachers who were present at the February meeting to personally receive their awards. All the members present were touched by the sincere thank yous voiced by each teacher about how much the funds, regardless of how small we felt they were, helped them encourage and nurture an appreciation of the arts in their students. This program is important to the ALHC and we hope you will help us build the fund up again.
