Ali Dennis Guillermo, RN- Fallen Covid Warrior NY
Donation protected
My colleague and kumpadre, Ali Dennis Guillermo (44y/o) had been a Registered Nurse at Long Island Community Hospital East Patchogue NY (formerly Brookhaven Memorial Hospital) since 2004 with areas specializing in Intensive Care, StepDown, Medical Surgical and Emergency Department. He emigrated from the Philippines with his wife and kids to seek for better opportunities as with any Filipino Nurses would aspire back then. About a month ago, while working as a front-liner, he got afflicted with Covid-19 and battled the virus for 2 weeks in the ICU- the same ICU where he saved many lives for so many years leaving his wife, Romielyn and 3 kids- Denice, Allen and Aljon (my godson). He was the primary provider with their daughter in University, middle child graduating from High School as Class Valedictorian and Aljon, who will turn 13 on April 13.
His expertise as an ICU, stepdown, medical-surgical and emergency room RN was exceptional for he’d always be willing to help and assist the team whenever and wherever. He’d make the busiest work nights lighter with his jokes and songs.
We will dearly miss Ali but hope that everyone would remember him as that One Filipino-American NY RN who sacrificed his life so others can be saved in this pandemic war that we are into. And yes- We are in the Epicenter, Suffolk County NY.
We have set up this account so in our own way- little or big- we maybe able to return Ali’s goodness, love and compassion which he selflessly gave and dedicated to this community the past 16 years. The funds donated aim to assist Ali’s family during this trying time. Romielyn also mentioned that the donations will be set aside for Allen’s College funds should there be enough after the Memorial expenses.
Thank you in advance and we hope everyone stays safe and well. Like what the lyrics of the song in his video... “Heaven knows I’ve done no wrong. I only want to sing this song to you... Why did it have to end this way?”- let’s make the ending of his life’s journey, our awakening of how virulent this virus is. Rest well our brother Ali and please watch over us in this battle full of uncertainty. Thank you for everything and You will forever be in our hearts.❤️
