Neptune’s Return - Me Lobster Fest

Hello, my name is Richard Alfred Johnson. I have been a potter and sculptor for 51 years.

This past winter I started a lifesize sculpture of King Neptune to be displayed at the 75th Maine Lobster Festival. I have always felt that my sculptures have their own destiny.

Alice Crie Knight was a festival director for many years and invited my wife Susan and I to show our work at the Maine Lobster Festival in 1976. We have been involved in the Festival ever since.

The day before the festival opened this year Alice passed away. It became very clear to me that the Neptune sculpture should be donated to the Festival in her memory.

We are starting this gofundme fundraiser to have this sculpture cast in bronze as a permanent sculpture to reside on the festival grounds.
