Alice Lilwall needs your support

Hello everyone, my name is Judith.  Alice Lilwall is a dear friend of mine. Alice's mother Carol was first diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at the beginning of the pandemic. She has fought it courageously, however, sadly, it has spread and Carol has now been diagnosed with leptomeningeal cancer. The cancer exists within the meninges of the brain and spinal fluid in the spinal cord. It is incurable, and has a grim, very short prognosis in terms of life expectancy. It is a truly terrible cancer, causing loss of sight, hearing, seizures and weakness, among other awful inflictions. Alice has been a single parent since her daughter Asha’s birth in 2016. Carol travelled from England to Toronto when Asha was born to help raise Asha. Asha sees her grandmother, Carol as a co-parent and adores her. Carol returned to her life in England a few years ago and it was at this point that she was first diagnosed with cancer. Alice now has to navigate between Canada and the UK, working with both her own and Asha’s grief. She is unable to work fulltime. This reduction of income coupled with the expense of flying back and forth from the UK, additional childcare expenses, higher mortgage and other everyday costs due to inflation, are proving to be beyond sustainable. Losing a loved one is unfathomable and tragic and Alice is desperate to be with her mother and spend as much time together in Carol’s final days. The financial worry she is dealing with should not be something she, or anyone else in a similar situation, should face at such a sombre time. All contributions help. No amount is too small.
