Help Alice Stay In Community

Our comrade, friend, collaborator and fierce Tiger Mischief Maker, Alice Wong, needs us.
As you know from her Twitter updates, Alice went through several medical crises this June, resulting in 4 weeks in the ICU.
She now has significant care needs requiring private pay home care workers to supplement the services she already receives.
The out-of-pocket costs for Alice’s care are $600 per day!
The Disability Community knows this is not an outlier; the state pays to shut us away in medical institutions, but we must fight like hell to live in the community.
Example: Alice was told by the hospital discharge planner that people with her care needs on Medicaid have only 2 options: family caregivers 24/7 or going to a subacute institution, which brought Alice to tears for the first and only time she was in the hospital.
This is unacceptable.
This is ableist oppression.
This is a crime against disabled bodily autonomy, against Alice’s right to receive the care she needs in her chosen setting.
As she adjusts to this new reality, Alice’s family is struggling mightily to secure reliable, stable support.
And let’s keep it real: as costs to keep her at home hemorrhage her family’s finances, the stress drains Alice of the mental, emotional and spiritual reserves she needs to recover.
CALL TO ACTION: let us ground deep in COLLECTIVE CARE and raise enough funds RIGHT NOW to help alleviate this financial burden.
This ONGOING fundraiser supports Alice's family as they care for her at home.
Please give in whatever way you are called. Every act of love is deeply appreciated.
