Alice's surgery . Time is of the Essence
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
When my cancer was first diagnosed in June 2019 , your contributions were vital to helping me receive my initial treatment and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Since then it has been 15 months of good & bad news, a long period of chemo and numerous doctor visits and scans.
The first diagnosis was a tumour in my right breast and a large lesion on the left in the lymph system that , they told me, it had also spread to my left lung.
Thankfully, after multiple tests , different doctors and a course of chemo through pills, it has not spread to my lung (they had seen small spots, remains of treatment of the NH lymphoma I had in my 20s).
Today the tumours have reduced in size and the doctors have recommended immediate surgery to remove the tumour on the left and undergo a mastectomy on the right.
Time is of the essence . I could go the traditional route of the public social care system here in Italy but I would have to wait at least 5 weeks and would not be able to choose my doctors.
Plus ,with COVID-19 numbers beginning to climb, I 'm worried that the hospitals and clinics may go in another lockdown, effectively barring me from surgery.
I would like to choose the European Institute of Oncology ( IEO) in Milan as it is the best centre for this procedure and the place that treated me in 2013 when I had my first breast cancer diagnosis.
As you might imagine, private surgery is not cheap and so it is my goal to raise € 25 000 to help cover a portion of the costs. (the total of which is €35 600).
I would be sincerely grateful for any donations, every euro counts.
A BIG thank you from my heart to all of you .
Stay well and healthy ,
Lots of love,
Alice
