Alicia Chapman Memorial Charitable Fund

Alicia (Holum) Chapman (12/18/73-12/20/19) will always be remembered for her passion for life and for her deep compassion and sweeping generosity. She radiated love and light in the world and gave to others without hesitation, donating her time, talents, and resources to many charitable causes and community needs. She shared her personal touch and tender heart with every cause and each person she supported. She taught her children to do the same, instilling a commitment to compassion and service through long conversations and many volunteer opportunities, and we know they will strive to continue her legacy.

Funds raised through this memorial campaign will be distributed to the nonprofits and charitable initiatives that she was drawn to--helping children and families in need, supporting students and teachers in the classroom, providing health and basic needs for at-risk youth, and food and nutrition resources to help families thrive. Her children will help determine which charitable causes will receive the resources gained through this Memorial Fund.

These resources will be converted to a charitable fund administered by the local Community Foundation in Spokane, WA (Alicia's hometown) to ensure long-term sustainability and effective administration of the charitable donations, as well as the opportunity to continue her legacy through raising additional funds. The family will be working with the Inland Northwest Community Foundation to set up the transfer of resources to them in the coming weeks. The family is also working with Alicia's former employer, Pacific Resources, to create broader reach for this initiative to invite additional donations to the fund and to coordinate local volunteer activities nationwide in Alicia's name.

Alicia's twins, Bella and Alaina (age 10), have begun discussing the charitable causes that will be supported through this effort. Their first selection will be to support the Women and Children's Free Restaurant and Community Kitchen in Spokane, Washington, whose mission is to serve as a vital safety net to fill nutritional gaps for women and children in need while fostering dignity and respect. They will tour the facility during the month of February or March to learn more about the organization and determine how they wish to support it. They will also select at least one early project that focuses on supporting classroom teachers to create healthy, productive learning environments for low-income students. They will then continue researching opportunities that align with their mother's passion for community service and charitable causes.

The Chapman family and Alicia's extended family (Davis, Morgan, Gifford, Holum, and Ingebrigtsen families) express our sincere gratitude for your generosity in contributing to this fund, and for the opportunity to support Bella and Alaina in carrying on their mother's tradition of supporting worthy causes. While we are grief-stricken that we lost Alicia far too young, we remain incredibly hopeful about the impact these resources will have on the world, and honored to steward these contribution as one of Alicia's many legacies.
