Alicia Gallegos-Howard Memorial (Redding, Calif.)
Donation protected
Suddenly, without warning, death came and stole our sweet Alicia away last Friday (March 1st). She was 34 years old and engaged to my nephew, Kenny Howard. A more devoted young couple you could not find. It was obvious to everyone that they had a love rare and special. We are all in shock, and Kenny is simply lost without her.
Alicia grew up in Redding, graduating from Enterprise High School in 2002. It was during his Freshman year at Enterprise that Kenny first became smitten by Alicia.
Kenny and Alicia became engaged in 2009, during Kenny's enlistment in the Army. At their first home together in Tennessee, she awaited his return from a tour in Afghanistan, where Kenny served as an Infantryman in the 11th Bravo Division. Then, on to Oklahoma as he wrapped his time with the Army. After his discharge, the two went to Washington State for a while before finally coming back to their hometown to settle down. Kenny's mom, Cheryl, was absolutely thrilled that they were coming back and insisted that they live at her house while they got on their feet. That was 3 years ago, and Cheryl has never regretted that decision. She and Alicia became very close - Cheryl thought of her as a daughter, and often commented on how happy the "kids" were together, and how happy Alicia made Kenny.
Alicia was the sun and moon to our Kenny and will forever be part of our family.
We were not prepared in any way for this. Not emotionally, and certainly not financially. We have no "emergency fund" to dip into to help Kenny out with burial and memorial expenses. Kenny is reeling, and it will be a while before he finds his way again. He will likely leave the area and go to the Midwest where his long-time best friend now lives, and where he doesn't see his Love in every room and on every street.
Any help you can give to assist with her burial expenses and memorial, and perhaps help Kenny get moved and settled, would be sincerely appreciated.
Thank you.
