Help Alicia on her PXA Recovery Journey!

Alicia is a remarkable individual facing a rare and challenging health battle. Alicia has been diagnosed with Pleomorphic Xanthroastrocytoma (PXA), a rare brain tumor that affects only 1,000 people worldwide.

Alicia's journey with PXA began in 2017, right before her wedding. She underwent her first surgery in 2020, and over the last three years, the tumor regrew. On September 5, 2023, she had another surgery. Post surgery, Alicia is doing well, but she has a long road ahead. This time, Radiation and Chemotherapy are part of the treatment plan.

Alicia and Pete have dreams of starting a family, and before beginning this next phase of treatment, she is pursuing fertility treatment. Unfortunately, these procedures come with significant financial burdens that are not covered by insurance. Additionally, a dedicated counselor working for the Pittsburgh Public School System, Alicia won't receive disability support once her personal time off is used up.

This GoFundMe campaign is an opportunity to rally together and support Alicia during her challenging journey. Alicia is so incredibly positive, strong, and optimistic while she faces these challenges, and she is truly inspiring. From serving on Junior Board to being a mentor for Big Sisters, Big Brothers, and supporting her students competing in the Special Olympics, Alicia’s natural inclination to help her friends, family, and community, shines. Now it's our turn to support her!

We aim to raise funds to help Alicia cover her expenses during her unpaid leave, her fertility treatments, and any other services and support to help Alicia on her road to recovery. Alicia has also decided that she will donate any funds raised that exceed her immediate needs to the Livestrong Fertility Program and The National Brain Tumor Society.
