Alicia Quimby Medley Medical and Living Assistance

Alicia Quimby Medley is a hardworking, compassionate, single mom with a 15 year old son. Since her son was born, Alicia has undergone 15 major surgeries including rotator cuff, hip replacement, knee replacement, ankle, neck and two major back surgeries. Her neck surgery, double hip replacement and second back surgery have all been within the last two years.

 

Alicia was misdiagnosed as a child, but found out after years of pain that she has severe scoliosis. She eventually ruptured several discs in her lower back and had to have spacers, rods, and screws inserted during her first major back surgery in 2015. She continued to have issues, leading to her second major back surgery just this past September. The existing hardware in her lower back was removed and spacers, rods, and screws were inserted directly above this area because she had 4 additional ruptured discs. It is likely an additional surgery will be needed to replace the discs in the upper back.

 

This last surgery was so extensive that Alicia cannot begin physical therapy for at least 3 months. She is not able to return to work before this 3 month period and may be off work for up to 6 months.

 

For Alicia, this not only means a dizzying amount of medical bills layered on top of the past medical expenses, but now also a loss of employment income to cover everyday housing, living, and day to day expenses for her and her son.

 

Her friends and family have started this Go Fund Me page in the hope of easing a small fraction of the financial pressure while she recovers. While we would have much rather had a benefit auction for her, we don’t feel comfortable doing so with the increased cases of COVID in our county.
