Alicia Diaz' road to recovery.. we are blessed
Donation protected
February update: Alicia is still waiting on a pcp so she can have her thyroid biopsy. Not sure what we are looking at money wise but she doesn't have insurance. Her paralysis is the same, but she's got a good outlook and is learning new ways to adapt. We are still struggling greatly with expenses, and even groceries and household items. Donations of any amount or even groceries and household and hygiene items would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE JANUARY 2, 2023
Happy New Year everyone!
It's a new year and full of possibilities! Praying that everyone's is filled with blessings❤
Alicia still hasn't had any improvement with her stroke issues, but she's trying to keep her spirits up. The holidays were especially hard because we all miss her baby girl Michaela. Losing a child is the ultimate pain.
We are starting the process to file for SS disability, but it's a very long process. I was unable to pay the Atmos energy or Frontier accounts for her house because i had to put bare necessities first. Because they are in my name, I don't qualify for assistance even though I just get SS. If you can find it in your hearts and are able to donate any amount, that would truly be a blessing. To the ones that have already donated, thank you again!
UPDATE 11/28/22
Alicia has been sick wth a stomach bug, which caused her stroke symptoms to worsen. Still complete leg paralysis, but her left arm started having numbness again. Have had one visit from physical therapy so far, and no home health yet.
We are really struggling with the financial aspect also.
Any size donation will be very appreciated, and please share the fundraiser.
UPDATE 11/16/22 First of all I want to say a big thank you to the 8 donors! I also appreciate the shares. Almost a month since Alicia's stroke, and we still haven't started physical therapy or home health. I was able to buy her a walker with a seat. She can walk for short distances, but dragging her paralyzed leg really tires her quickly. She's also had some regression in her left arm. She's losing feeling again. She still hasn't got Medicaid, so that will mean another month of self pay meds at almost $500. My disability check is our current income and it's just not possible to pay my bills, her bills and the meds and things she needs. I know many people are in financial strain, but if you are able to donate even $5, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, please share this. Thank you.
Hi, I'm Alicia's mom, Teri Rodgers. Many of you know that Alicia had a stroke on October 17th. They also found a thyroid tumor that needs to be biopsied.
This is her second stroke and another serious medical condition to add to her long list.
She was in the ICU, currently on the Stroke Unit at Shannon Hospital. Alicia was supposed to be sent to a skilled nursing facility for therapy and rehab, because she has severe left side weakness and unable to move her leg. Because she has no insurance she will be sent home instead and we will work on her therapy.
She has two teenage sons, and has her household and monthly bills. I've helped her financially as much as possible, but my disability check can only stretch so far.
Donations of any amount will be so very appreciated. Please share the fundraiser as much as possible.
God bless you.
