Help Send Alida to the Convent!
Spende geschützt
Well, it's been a long journey to this point, but the good news, is I have been accepted to enter the postulancy of the Sisters of Life on September 10th, 2016!!!!!!!
(Street transation: I'm on my way to become a nun!)
However, I will only be free to enter if all of my student debt is paid off or legally signed over to another.
So, how this came to be:
My vocation story began when I was 8 years old and encountered a religious sister as my third grade teacher. I understood that though she taught like the other teachers, her life was set apart, and was first spent in being with the Lord. And I desired this.
However, I was very young, and while religious life continued to be a daunting question throughout highschool, I only began to prayerfully consider it until college. But still, here, I had a difficult time reconciling these desires I had for my life with choosing this unique path, such as marriage, a career, adventure... Having studied Fashion Design, I desired to begin a new generation within the industry, by upholding the dignity of women.
After graduation in 2010, I moved to New York City, making costumes for Broadway shows. I had a very beautiful life, with great friends, swing dancing, serving on the on the ministry team with the Frassati Fellowship, and I met the Sisters of Life who invited me to attend a Come and See retreat with them.
(A Come and See is exactly what it sounds like. You come, and you see...)
This helped foster my discernment to go deeper; but after three years, in order to better hear the Lord’s will, I stepped away from the fast-paced living of the city, and moved to New Jersey, into a discernment house called Casa Guadalupe, a house of prayer, healing, and discernment for Catholic young women living in community together.
At Casa, I had the space to grow more deeply in prayer with Jesus, to discern through different communities and to experience His love and mercy for me. And the Lord has made His call clear, inviting me to follow His love by upholding the sanctity and dignity of every human life, through the Sisters of Life. And with great joy, they have accepted my application to enter!
What this Means for You:
I am asking you to consider supporting me. First, through prayer. 'Cause I could use all the prayers I can get!
But secondly, to consider supporting me financially.
Just like a simple Hail Mary goes a long way, every little bit will make a difference.
But if you want to give a lot, I'll take that, too! :)
In all seriousness, though, whatever you choose to give will benefit me, not only, but the Church... and yourself. There is no love without sacrifice! If I can find 120 people to offer $100, I'll knock it out!!
The deadline for this goal is Sept 10th!!!
(Checks can also be made through Casa Guadalupe as it is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization. Please follow the link and send via paypal, with a note to my name.)
And lastly, thank you in advance for your support! It's been the culmination of a lot of prayer, encounters, and effort of many many people--some of you may not even realize that you were apart of this story...but you are, and you have helped me here. So thank you.
