This is Alijah. He is 8yr old and he is my little soldier. And on May 22, 2020 he was diagnosed with diffused midline glioma. It is a malignant unoperable brain tumor.
It started out with a very horses voice. We didn't think much of it at first. Just that he sounds a lot like batman. We all thought it was just his unique voice. But than he started snoring like a trucker. So his doctors gave him meds. First it was Albuterol, than nebulizer (to treat what they thought was asthma).... none of these thing helped however.
On Jan 17th he had a sleep study done. Even then the team just couldn't fig out wat was. The snoring just got worse. That's when head aches started. No amount of Tylenol would help. Than on May 22 he woke up very lethargic. We rushed him to cooper there they gave him a CAT scan. It was then they saw the tumor. Sitting at the base of his skull. He was rushed to C.H.O.P.
At C.H.O.P that very night he was giving wat would be the first of three brain operations. The 1st one was to release the pressure in his brain. The 2nd was an attempt to remove the tumor. 3rd was to make a new way for his spinal fluid to circulate back.....
However they could not remove the tumor it is wrapped in brain stem preventing Dr. Storm form removing it. So he debulcked it instead. And preformed a Biopsy. It was than we found out it was malignant.
So far Alijah has completed his radiation. Next on the list is chemo. Alijah life was pretty normal before this. He loves legos and sci. And is a true Gamer. He is a big brother to his little sister Serenity.
I am Alijah's mom, Galaxy. Before all of this I was crushing being a single mom working full time and taking care of my two beautiful kids. But now.......I am on LOA from my job so I can be his care giver full time. Unfortunately it is not a paid leave. I am using what savings we have to provide. But even that's getting low. We are trying to relocate to a new home one that is wheelchair accessible. I not sure how this will work out but any and all help is welcome. Even if it's just a prayer. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
