On November 30th, my mom, Alina Valdez was taken to the ER with severe migranes and vomitting. They took some CAT scans of her head and noticed something was wrong, she had a brain bleed due to a ruptured vessel. That day she was addmitted into the ICU at Dominican Hospital so they could monitor the bleed and figure out the cause. She was seen by a neurologist and she came to conclusion that the bleed was due to extremly high blood pressure. She had what was called a hemorrhagic stroke - one of the vessels in her brain rupptered causing blood to accumulate in the surrounding brain tissue. Thankfully, this did not leave her impaired. She was in the ICU for three days having her blood pressure and bleed regulated. Once they got the blood pressure to stop spiking they were able to move her into her own room, where she stayed for another day and a half. Finally, with barely any headache left they discharged her, and I got to bring her home Friday afternoon. Unfortunatly, I was woken up at 4:30 this morning with complaints of the same severe migranes and vommiting. We rushed back to the ER where more CAT scans were taken and she was readmitted. She will be staying there until they can stabilized her blood pressure again and get the swelling of her brain to go down.
She is going to be facing a lot of medical bills, and it will be close to impossible for her to pay them all. She is not working due to her condition, and unfortunatly does not have health insurance. Any donations are greatly appriciated.
I would love to be able to ease her mind on the costs of the medical bills so when she does return home her main focus can be healing.
We are still unsure of how long she will be staying in the hospital, but will keep everyone posted.
