Alisha and Justin Vick

As some of you may know my sister Alisha was recently diagnosed with Endometriod Ovarian Cancer.

 

In late 2017 my sister (Alisha) and her husband (Justin) started their family by having their oldest daughter Rebecca. In April of 2020 their family grew by one more when they had their second daughter Isabella. In October of 2020 they found out they were pregnant with their third and last miracle baby, Brianna.

Early on in Alisha’s pregnancy with Brianna, her doctor found a cyst on her ovary. They quickly decided their plan was to watch its growth during future ultrasounds and remove the cyst during her already planned C-section if they deemed that necessary at the time.

During her C-section they decided that it was in her best interest to have the suspicious cyst and ovary removed after they found some concerning matter inside of the cyst. A few days later they received the devastating news that the cyst was in fact cancerous. Her cancer came back as Stage 1C grade 2. At this point her doctor decided she would need to undergo a radical hysterectomy, which she received on August 10th.

Unfortunately, during the removal of the cyst at the time of her C-section the cyst ruptured, potentially spreading cancer cells throughout her body. Because of this, the cancer board decided she would need to undergo three rounds of Chemotherapy (beginning on August 30th).

Fortunately, because our little miracle baby Brianna was born when she was, this was able to be caught at an early stage.

Not only do they have 3 kids under the age of 4, but Justin is having to take on a lot of the every day parenting on his own. Alisha has been recovering from first a C-section, followed by a radical hysterectomy and now chemo. She has been out of work since the birth on Brianna in June, and will continue to be until she finishes her Chemo.
