Alison Orrell Conway needs our Support!

Terri and Amy are helping raise funds for our Lifetime Best Friend, Alison. It would mean so much to have your support as Alison recovers from a stroke. Her family has been very supportive throughout this challenge and previous health issues she has endured. She is a fighter and is determined to get back to her thriving and independent life. If you know her, you know she won’t give up, but she needs our help.

Here is her story:
Many of you may already be aware of our Dear Alison’s current medical crisis. For those of you who are not aware, she had a stroke on Sept 20. All of the medical conditions she has endured over the years are a direct result of the cancer treatments she had at the age of 12. Her doctor has described it as Radiation Sickness. The unfortunate circumstances currently have resulted in her being unable to work. She had been working at Frederick Memorial for the past 14 years as a nursing leader. She had recently resigned to pursue a “dream job” with 3M traveling the DMV (her heart is at the beach). The stroke occurred during her job transition and prior to her training with 3M. This has left her with a significant loss of income and financial security, while increasing her expenses (COBRA health insurance coverage, rehabilitation, home nurse) for an unknown period of time.
Currently she has seen some good improvement but has an unknown, possibly long recovery to reach her goals. As you all know, she is very determined to do all that is necessary to get to her goals of working and living an independent life once again.
This is not an easy ask from her, but she cannot do this on her own without the support of family and friends. Rainy day savings can only go so far in this economy of high costs: medical care, insurance, housing, staffing, etc. Her immediate plans involve staying in her current housing and focusing on recovery. Plans will likely move into a search for more affordable housing once her mobility and independence improve.
Your donations will help Alison get back on her feet again (literally) and are beyond appreciated. Rest assured the funds will be used wisely. It will also ease the financial stress that can inhibit recovery.
Wishing you all good health and happiness in this season of giving. Love…
Terri and Amy
