Alison Parker Szabo's Memorial Picnic Table
Donation protected
On November 3, 2021, we lost a beautiful, kind and caring soul. Alison Parker Szabo (Ali) was only 56 years old when she left this world, and we miss her greatly. She leaves behind her loving family, Paul, Maria, Patrick and Brendan; her sisters, Lisa and Moe; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, uncles and aunts, not to mention all her friends from near and far.
Ali faced her Stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis in 2009 with courage, strength, determination, and above all, HOPE! As she always said, "I may have cancer, but cancer doesn't have me!". Truer words were never spoken. She never gave up and inspired all those who knew and loved her. During her life, Ali helped organize numerous fundraisers for cancer (Light the Night and Relay for Life) and generously supported many other worthy causes, such as BC Children's Hospital and Wounded Warriors. She cared deeply.
To honour her memory, we would like to install a memorial picnic table at Centennial Beach. A place of happiness to gather with family and friends, share memories or be alone for quiet reflection. Why Centennial Beach? Growing up in Tsawwassen, we were fortunate to have plenty of family time at this beach during the summer. As adults with a large extended family, we loved our family picnics each summer at Centennial Beach. Alison was always a big part of organizing these gatherings and loved getting the family together in a place with many beautiful memories.
If you can donate towards the memorial picnic table for Alison, it would mean the world to us. We've already received a few donations and are almost halfway there! We hope that it will be a place to remember a beautiful person. We will always miss her, but we know that this will keep her close to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
