JLL Property Triathlon in aid of Marie Keating Foundation
I'm running in the JLL Property Triathlon this year in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation and every donation will help. This is a cause that means so much to me, their work is so awe inspiring and specifically their campaigns like "Get Men Talking" help countless people each year. https://mariekeating.ie/get-men-talking/
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK. Almost 43,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in the UK. Around 268,000 people living in the UK today have been diagnosed with bowel cancer. More than nine out of ten new cases (94%) are diagnosed in people over the age of 50. But bowel cancer can affect anyone of any age. More than 2,600 new cases are diagnosed in people under the age of 50 every year.
1 in 17 men and 1 in 20 women will be diagnosed with bowel cancer during their lifetime.
Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in Ireland. There are about 2,935 new cases every year. It is the second most deadly cancer in Ireland, though if caught early, bowel cancer is very treatable. You’re also at increased risk if you have a family history of the disease, smoke, drink, eat fatty, processed foods that are low in fibre, are overweight and don’t exercise.
More information about Marie Keating Foundation Limited: The Marie Keating Foundation is a cancer awareness and support charity providing services to communities around Ireland. Their Nurses educate men and women on how to reduce their risk of cancer and how to spot cancer early. Their range of services support people living with and beyond cancer. Their mission is to make cancer less frightening by enlightening and their Vision is a world free from the fear of cancer.
The Marie Keating Foundation receives only a small amount of government funding and all of the services are provided free of charge. Without support from fundraisers, volunteers and corporate supports, they simply cannot continue to provide these vital services. A full breakdown of how funds will be used can be found on their website: https://mariekeating.ie/donate/
