Alister Chisholm

Hi, my name is Yvette and I am fundraising on behalf of my son Alister. My son Alister lost his life on Saturday, August 19th, 2023 due to a senseless act of violence. He was taken from us in such a tragic and horrific way.

Alister was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to so many. Those who knew Alister knew how charismatic, likeable individual he was, always lighting up the room with his charm. He always had a smile on his face, followed by his remarkable laugh. He was there for you anytime you needed a helping hand.

Alister over the years met so many great people. Everywhere Alister went he would build lasting friendships. From his friends, coaches and peers here in Ontario and across Canada to his friends, coaches and peers in the US from Maryland and Mississippi. Those who knew Alister or "Chizzy" "Aleo" as some would call him, knew how big his heart was and how much he loved everyone immensely. He would always find ways to make his presence felt or just make you laugh.

Alister’s legacy will always be remembered as one of the most talented basketball players to come out of the GTA. Alister loved basketball at a young age. Alister played high school basketball in Brampton at Sandalwood Heights SS and was recognized as one of the region's top players playing in the Peel All-Star game. In his senior year, Alister recorded a 50-point game.

Alister went on to play Junior College in Maryland at Hagerstown CC from Coach Barry Brown, where he would go on to be a two-time Maryland Juco Champion. Alister led the conference in steals per game. 2013 -2015 Alister went on to play for NCAA II at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi for Coach Jim Boone. He helped his team to a sweet 16, playing 59 games over two seasons to finish his career.

Alister’s death left the family and I completely heartbroken and in shock. We are preparing to fly Alister’s body home from Edmonton, Alberta. Our family is devastated by this sudden loss and we are seeking any financial donations to transport Alister home and for his funeral expenses. Please consider donating.
