Alivio Open Mic Emergency Relief Fund

Family. Grassroots. Community.
Alivio Open Mic is not a non-profit. We are a home, a family, a unit of friends cultivating community for over 6 years by giving artists and neighbors a platform to showcase their art and entrepreneurship.
Alivio Open Mic is the longest running open mic in Southeast Los Angeles, hosting thousands of community members and artists over the years, inviting them to perform poetry, sing, tell stories, sell art, display paintings, collaborate with other performers, and use the space for community action all FROM A HUMBLE HOME in the city of Bell, CA.
Here at Alivio Open Mic, we take pride in being a grassroots space that is ran by the people, for the people, and we believe that INVESTING in our local creatives stimulates our neighborhoods. When we keep money in our community, and shop local, we sustain ourselves while supporting the dreams of our neighbors.
Why This Emergency Fund Matters
With that being said, the spread of Covid-19 has directly impacted a majority of local artists and vendors in Southeast Los Angeles and beyond. Given that performing artists and vendors rely on gigs, open mics, events, and shows to make income, the pandemic sweeping through Los Angeles has left our creatives with little to no opportunity to make ends meet since the "safer at home" order was set in motion. Alivio Open Mic has had to shut our doors as well, adversely affecting the local artists and vendors that paint our community with colors of beautiful vibrancy.
Although our doors are closed for the time being, we want to keep supporting our local creatives with this emergency fund by providing applicants with direct cash assistance for those financially impacted by Covid-19. These funds will help them pay rent, pay debt, purchase groceries, medicine, and supplement some of the loss of cancelled gigs.
Thank you,
Alivio Family
