Ali's Volunteering in the Galapagos

Jatun Sacha Wildlife Reserve
The Jatun Sacha Wildlife Reserve covers 200 hectares of land on San Cristobal, one of the Galapagos Islands. The reserve houses some of the most unique vegetation and animals in the world, including many types of mangroves, cacti, and birds.
Unfortunately, this biodiversity is greatly endangered by invasive species. This is where I come in, along with about a dozen other biology students from my university (Concordia University, in Montreal).
What I Will Be Doing
In order to help fight this ecological threat, I will be traveling to the Galapagos Islands to volunteer on the Jatun Sacha Reserve. This student-run volunteering project has been going on for almost ten years and has greatly helped improved the survival chances of native flora. On the Reserve, our conservation efforts will include cutting down invasive bushes, helping out in plant nurseries, and general gardening.
How You Can Help
My volunteer trip will take place during May and June of 2017. Overall, the trip will cost about $5000 CAD.
I need funds to help me cover airplane tickets (about $1500), housing/transportation (about $2000), equipment (such as biodegradable soap), and vaccinations/medications (about $200) before the trip. Any financial help I could get for this trip would really be amazing, as I'm currently a student in university with no income.
Please consider donating to my cause. Already, an estimated 8% of land species in the Galapagos are endangered, and so it is critical that something is done as soon as possible. The biodiversity in the Galapagos can be saved and protected if we fight for it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you so much for your support!
