ALL ABOUT ALFIE

All about Alfie is a page that I’ve set up to raise funds for a real life little SUPERHERO ♂️
Alfie is 5 yrs old and was admitted to hospital on 22nd December 2021 following a fall from kicking a football as he’s a huge Chelsea Fan.
Sadly Alfie had a previous fall 6 weeks prior to 22nd December 2021 and was In obvious discomfort his mum (Helena) took Alfie to 2 different hospitals both hospitals refused to X-ray Alfie as being a robust little boy he was still in good character and was hobbling around so it was deemed that if he was moving about nothing serious was wrong…..
This couldn’t of been further from the truth
Even the Gp thought he was potentially making it up…
Alfie had sustained a pathological fracture to his right femur bone in the first fall which would of been picked up immediately had a X-ray been done on his first visit to hospital which involved a 6 hour wait only to be told go home it’s just a muscle strain…
He had a further visit to another A&E who again said he didn’t need an X-ray and suggested going back to GP if he was no better In a few days….
As a mum (Helena) knew something wasn’t right and was persistent in knocking on doors trying to get Alfie an X-ray to rule out an injury
She was repeatedly told that because he was moving around on his leg that there were no real concerns….
Even though Alfie had developed an obvious limp In his left leg from first fall.
However when he was X-rayed finally after his second fall on 22nd December 2021 at the first hospital that refused to X-ray initially for legal reasons I can’t name the hospital…
It was discovered that Alfie had not 1 but 2 pathological breaks in his right femur bone which was not only devastating but also heartbreaking as this little boy had been walking around for 6 weeks coping with what must have been excruciating pain for him.
The end result for Alfie has been horrendous as you can see from all the photos
He spent Christmas in hospital in agony with his leg in traction until the 29th December 2021 when he was transferred to
Chelsea and Westminster hospital who have been absolutely amazing with him and been able to give mum ( Helena) the much needed support that was lacking in the hospital he was transferred from.
Alfie underwent a 6 hour operation on the 30th December 2021, where he had to have a bone graft done .
The bone used for his bone graft was donated due to Alfie’s age and his bones being to soft to be able to use for procedure.
He also had to have metal plates and pins inserted into his leg to support and strengthen his leg.
Alfie is now in a cast which is around both his hips waist and both legs, meaning he is going to be bed bound for at least the next 12 weeks due to the nature of his injuries he is unable to move from the waist down but as you can see from photos he still has a smile on his face which is remarkable considering the traumatic experience he has gone through so far…
Alfie is going to need round the clock care and support in the upcoming months ahead as he will need to learn to walk again once his leg has healed and will have to have extensive physio therapy to enable this.
Alfie’s mum (Helena) has had no choice but
To stop work as she’s a single mum to both
Callum who’s 15 and Alfie 5 so as you can imagine this is a terribly stressful time for the whole family.
For Alfie to be able to come home he has to have a specialised wheelchair that sadly the NHS are unable to fund….
So I’m setting up this GOFUNDME page with the hope of supporting the family both financially and also with the view to being able to purchase the specialised wheelchair for our little SUPERHERO ALFIE ♂️♂️♂️
If you are unable to contribute please please share this page so we can reach the target set for Alfie and his family.
Many thanks
