All An Act Theatre Fire Recovey
Donativo protegido
Dear friends,
I know many of you have seen the news by now, and I wanted to reach out because so many wonderful people have reached out to me. Yes, there was a fire at All An Act around 1 am on Sat morning April 28, 2024.
Thank God no one in the shelter nor staff was hurt and a huge thank you to the night shift at Community Shelter Services who were watching the cameras and were so quick to call 911. - The fire originated in the theatre and is believed to be electrical, it did not spread beyond (Thank God). The Shelter is going to be able to continue operating as usual.
The smoke, heat, and water damage to the theatre is significant and will take months to repair and restore. We are currently waiting for the fire marshal and insurance companies to do their thing, so we can resume doing ours.
In the meantime, there will still be monthly bills and operating expenses to pay, along with equipment to be replaced from heat, smoke and water damage that insurance won't cover. We are not a non-profit, we are a small business surviving on ticket sales. There are no grants available to us, so we are reaching out to you, our community.
All An Act has spent the last 20 years providing Erie with quality entertainment, and has raised over $80,000 for Community Shelter Services, Erie County's largest homeless shelter. We hope the Erie Community will lend a hand to help us continue that mission. - David W. Mitchell & Larry Lewis
