All the love for Olivia's Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amanda Breitweser, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister Jamie and her family as they face one of the hardest battles of their lives. Her daughter, Olivia Lenhart, has been fighting for her life for the past month, and we are asking for your support as she continues this difficult journey.

Olivia’s Story
Olivia is 11 years old and is in 5th Grade at DGF Schools. She is such a sweet, sassy, spunky little girl. On January 13th, Olivia was rushed to the ER with labored breathing and dangerously low oxygen levels. She tested positive for Influenza A, which quickly progressed into viral pneumonia. After spending a week in the hospital on oxygen, she was sent home for the weekend with oxygen support while sleeping. Unfortunately, she continued spiking fevers and struggling to breathe, and by January 21st, her condition deteriorated rapidly. They then admitted her, and after a couple of hours in a regular room, she was moved to PICU.
Within hours, she went from CPAP to BiPAP, and then developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), a life-threatening condition. They found that she then had bacterial pneumonia and put her on antibiotics. It wasn't too much longer before she was quickly intubated and placed on a ventilator, where she has remained for three weeks now. There is no doubt that Olivia is fighting so hard, and the doctors have even said she is "spicy." She is a very determined girl and still shows as she has been sedated with a ventilator. The doctors would say that her lungs are just very sick, and it is a slow process.

A Long and Uncertain Road Ahead
Olivia has endured countless terrifying moments, struggling to get enough oxygen and keep her vitals stable. A blood transfusion helped keep her stable, and while we are grateful that her lung blood clots have cleared, Olivia is still facing many unknowns.
She is still requiring high levels of oxygen and has not tolerated attempts to lower her ventilator support. If she isn’t strong enough to breathe on her own soon, she may need a tracheostomy and a feeding tube—which could mean long-term care at home. If you know Olivia at all, she loves her strawberry smoothies and her chocolate sweets, so this would be devastating.
As you can imagine, this has been exhausting and emotional for our family, especially for Mike and Jamie and Olivia's brother and sister. Olivia still has a long road to recovery ahead of her. It is unknown what will come with her recovery; it could be where she receives a trach and feeding tube, or it could be she comes out of this with just physical therapy. In both cases, Olivia will need 24/7 care for a while from both Mike and Jamie as they learn Olivia's new needs.

How You Can Help

We are asking for prayers, shares, and donations to help support Olivia and her family during this incredibly difficult time. Any funds raised will go toward:

• Hired help for 24/7 care that medical insurance doesn't pay
• Therapy and rehabilitation for her recovery
• Potential long-term care if she needs a trach
• Supporting Mike and Jamie's family as they navigate this journey

Your generosity, whether big or small, means the world to us. If you are unable to donate, we would be so grateful if you could share Olivia’s story and keep her in your prayers.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Olivia’s fight. We believe in her strength, and with your help, we know it will support Mike and Jamie in providing all the care Olivia needs to make it through this.
