WHY HAVE I CHOSEN GOFUNDME?

I recently contacted an art company (Nekotama Anime) that specializes in commissioning their art services. They have approved some of my designs and have agreed to draw them for my book. On top of that, after seeing my ideas on their quote sheet, they have also suggested purchasing the copyright properties for these characters.

I have found an abundance of artists on social media that I am now interested in. Though Nekotama Anime has reached out, it is possible that I use another source!

HOW WILL THE FUNDING BE USED?

WHO IS ALLEN GREENE?

Hello everyone, I'm 40 years old from Dover, Delaware. Since I was a child, I have always had a creative bug. I remember sitting with my younger cousin at our grandmother's kitchen table, looking over our comic books, trading cards, and wrestling toys. Then, I would grab a spiral notebook and create my characters and stories. These characters were detailed and original. Many of the basic ideas I would come up with would eventually make their way to popular tv shows or comics in one form or another by another artist or writer. I knew I had a gift, but I never took the proper measures to develop those skills, and by the time I hit my teenage years, baseball took over my life, so my creative bug lay dormant.

Flashforward to late 2019 and into early 2020. I think we all know where this is headed. As for myself, I had begun to struggle with an assortment of personal issues in 2019. The same State Government had employed me since I was 17 years old; I was experiencing severe work fatigue from the same accounting work I had done for so long. I began jumping from department to department, trying to find an office with the fresh energy needed to stay positive in such trying times. I was unsuccessful. My work began to take a nose dive; I could not focus, and I realized that I was not obtaining anything told to me. My world crashed in on me; I was afraid, sad, and anxious. I was also financially unstable, even with a full-time Government job.

My only real safe place was my home with my beautiful son and the love of my life, my wife, Tara. They're my foundation and were always my means of not giving up. At night, my wife and I would watch anime in the basement; she saw that I had been doing this alone, especially during the height of Covid-19. I began showing her the classic anime that I had grown up with, and soon she began to venture out and suggest new shows in genres that I had never thought of watching. I found myself engaged in a new world of ideas and thought. One night in particular, after I had had a terrible day at work, we watched one of the shows we had picked together. Something hit me as I watched. I wanted to be in this fantasy world; I felt it would take away all the negative feelings I was dealing with. And then it hit me. I had an epiphany. I realized that I loved this craft of animation and storytelling much more than I had known. It sparked my imagination, and I began to write and design characters again. I had critiqued so much content that I knew I could do just as good if not BETTER than most of what I was seeing and reading. I had woken up, and there was a newfound excitement inside of me. I now had a goal, a new path, and a new journey. TO CREATE MY FIRST LIGHT NOVEL.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

I wholeheartedly believe in this project, and I know that this is just the beginning of something bigger than just myself. I want to build a TRUE FOUNDATION for American authors, writers, and artists who want to compete with Japan and South Korea's best in the manga, anime, and light novel genres. I know we can have the skills to be taken seriously, but I also feel that many talented people are overlooked or do not know where to turn to. When my project is finished, and it is a joyous success, I will have a strong voice for producers and project leads.
