It is with a heavy heart that I reach out today and ask for help. Yesterday the world lost a great man, Allen P. MacDonald. My cousin lost her father after many years of being his sole provider and my niece and nephews lost their Grampa. Allen was born in 1952 and left us on September 7, 2023.
Allen leaves behind his two beloved daughters, Kerri-Ann Disbrow and Kristen Barry. He will be reunited in heaven with his daughter Kathryn Whowell. He found incredible joy in his family, cherishing every moment. His love for his daughters and grandchildren was unwavering.
A proud Army veteran, Allen dedicated his life to serving his country. His passion for adventure extended to his love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and James Bond movies. He had many interests, but his family has always been everything to him.
Al faced tremendous challenges in his later years. He battled kidney and heart failure, vascular disease, and endured the hardships of being a double above-the-knee amputee. In the midst of his struggles, it was his middle daughter, Kerri-Ann, who stepped up & stood by his side for 8 years, providing unwavering love, care and support while making sure he never missed his dialysis, his needs were always met, he was comfortable and always knew how loved was.
Kerri-Ann and Her husband, Jeremy, opened their hearts and home to her father. One of them has been there every minute or every day. Their daughter Graci formed a special connection with her Grampa, bringing light and love into their lives over the difficult times they endured throughout Al’s illness. For their three boys, Oliver, Forrest, and Henry, Al was not just Grampa but a constant presence in their lives. They haven’t lived a single day without their cherished Grampa by their side and he will forever be a treasured part of their family story.
I am asking everyone to come together to support Kerri-Ann and her family during this challenging time. Funds raised will be used to provide Al with the dignified farewell he deserves alongside his beloved daughter Kathryn. The V.A. will only cover burials in a federally maintained veterans cemetery. The hardship of a private burial and the desire to have Al with his precious Katie is left for Kerri-Ann and her family. Any remaining funds will help Al’s family navigate the difficult journey of grieving and adjusting to their new normal and having a home that misses him immensely.
Every like, share, penny, and prayer makes a significant difference in helping this family heal and honor the memory of their beloved father & grandfather. Please help show support for a man who dedicated his life to love, service, and family. Your generosity and compassion are profoundly appreciated as the Disbrow family mourns the loss of Allen P. MacDonald and ensure that his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
With the most heartfelt gratitude,
Jennifer Cort
