"We regret to inform you that David Dickerson passed late Saturday night, June 17th, 2023. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. We would like to express our thanks to all of you for your prayers, love, encouraging words, visits, text, phone call, cards, and contributions. David was incredibly blessed to have all of you as friends. We in turn were blessed to become friends with you during this unexpected journey.
With love,
The Dickerson Family
Irene Dickerson, mother of David, has requested the cease of donations to this GoFundMe page. She, and the rest of the family, are extremely grateful for the funds that have come in through the last 2 weeks. The money will be used for a combination of hospital fees and funeral costs, etc.
Thank you to all who have donated. David had many loved ones and supporters. This account is proof of that.
*ORIGINAL MESSAGE on JUNE 5, 2023*
Dear all,
For those who do not know David Dickerson, he is a professional horn player, currently attending the San Francisco Conservatory. He is well-known for his love for the horn and generous heart towards his friends, family, and community. David always has a kind word to say, a joke to crack, or a CRAZY “David” story to tell that no one can believe he experienced. No matter where he goes, David builds a genuine connection with anyone he speaks to.
On Wednesday May 31, 2023 at 9:30 PM David was riding his bike home from work and struck by a driver in a hit-and-run. Once he was transported to Walnut Creek Medical Center in CA, he underwent surgeries for several broken bones, and since then, been hospitalized with Diffuse Axonal (Brain) Injury grade 1: in a coma and on a ventilator. As of June 5, 2023, he’s able to move his head, one arm, and a bit of his mouth independently!
We are hopeful of full recovery, but recognize that there is still a long way to go. David currently does not have long term disability insurance, and will likely incur high medical bills from his
hospitalization on top of recovery costs in a skilled nursing facility or rehab.
In light of all the many ways that we’ve been positively impacted by David Dickerson, we are raising money to help support him and his family pay for his medical expenses. If you are unable to support monetarily, please continue to pray for him. We are all waiting to hear David tell his crazy story when he wakes up.
This GoFundMe account is created on behalf of the Dickerson family and all proceeds will go strictly towards David‘s health expenses.
