All-Women Virtual Guitar Orchestra

Friends of the guitar!

 

VGO was born out of the need to play together during the pandemic. It enabled guitarists from all over the world to play alongside their guitar heroes and be a part of the VGO community. This time, we have prepared a special edition of VGO that will unite all women guitarists and advocate for all women artists around the world!

 

All-Women VGO is a special project that will feature all women guitarists, playing a piece by a woman composer. The legendary Brazilian composer Clarice Assad generously contributed her work “Dusty Grooves” to the project, written for a 4-part guitar orchestra and an electric bass. This project will give a chance to all women guitarists to play alongside their biggest role models and heroes in the classical guitar world! For the first time in the history, all girls and women in classical guitar will unite to play together and showcase their immense talent.

 

The video of the piece will premiere in March 2022 in the light of Women's History Month. All funds raised will be donated to organizations supporting women in music or used to support one or more participants in the project in the form of a scholarship. The more we can raise, the more we can give!
