Over 900,000 Gedeos are evicted and need our help
Donation protected
Gedeo people living in Guji Zones (Oromia region) have been subjected to crimes against humanity involving brutal killings and severe physical injuries with their homes burned down, their properties looted, and their lives destroyed in a massive ethnic cleansing campaign that forcibly displaced over 900,000 people. Several girls and women have been gang-raped and a number of public servants (professionals) in Guji Zones have been fired from their positions because of their ethnicity. At the moment, nearly 45,000 displaced people (children, nursing mothers, and elderlies) currently settled in Gotiti are facing severe conditions. The people are sadly dying from hunger and communicable diseases and in urgent need of food and non-food items. Hundreds of thousands of citizens forcibly returned to Guji Zones and currently camped in churches, schools, and Kebele administration compounds have been deprived of the necessary humanitarian aid due to lack of peace and security in Guji Zones. Therefore, we plead all concerned citizens and friends of Ethiopia and its peoples to make a donation for the urgently needed humanitarian assistance for displaced Gedeo people who are currently in desperate conditions.
