Help Take Our Dreams Off the Shelf!

Alta Loma Middle School’s Library has served our school community well for many years. However, as student learning styles and educational needs change, so must our library. This begins with a new focus and a new name for the space. We are proud to invite you to review and participate in our plans for the Alta Loma Middle School Learning Commons. Alta Loma began a process last year of modernizing our library space to meet the needs of our dynamic and diverse community of learners. Our plan enables our Learning Commons to remain vital and responsive to traditional services and new technologies.
Work Already Completed
-Refreshed the book collection with over 1,000 new books.
-Removed old and outdated titles not being checked out.
-Developed architectural plans to reimagine the space.
*These plans were donated and completed by ALMS alumni, Rebecca Kerrisk, who is currently studying Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado.*
-Renovated the space to remove one office.
-Constructed two offices in the prior Home Economics Room.
-Painted with a modern color pallet.
-Replaced all flooring.
-Engaged Demco Interiors to create a furniture and fixtures design.
-Purchased new shelving, a SMART Board, Internet Café Furniture, Learning Commons Lounge area, Book Look Up Station, Private Study Carrals and a Circulation Desk.
-Housed the ALMS Tablet cart permanently in the Learning Commons.
-Purchased database and digital magazine subscriptions to provide more access to nonfiction text for all classes and student interests.
As you can see, much work has already been completed. Now we ask for the help of our amazing community. Our fundraising goal of $40,000 allows us to complete this project making our dream a complete reality. Your donation to the Alta Loma Gift Fund will make you an enduring part of our campus community.
Remaining Projects
-Purchase furniture for the rest of the main library space, Alternative Classroom, and remaining fixtures.
-Add a Media Collaboration table to the Alternative Classroom area.
-Additional renovation to add a Maker Space, Robotics Lab, Comic Book Studio, and 3-D Printer.
-Commission permanent art pieces.
-Continually add new, high interest fiction and nonfiction titles to our collection.
-Increase our ratio of technology to students.
Every donation- from $5 to $5,000- gets us one step closer to a completed Learning Commons. All donors will be recognized and your donation is tax deductible. Any fundraising beyond the goal amount will be used to add to the book and digital collections as well as purchase more computers for student access.
