Alone Across Canada for Kidney and Mental Health

A Little Bit About Myself

I’m a 41 year old normal fellow on a journey walking across Canada alone. This is something I have wanted to do ever since I was young and due to my current circumstances decided now was the time or never. Call it a mental and life reset and a search to find out who I really am while seeing this wonderful country and meeting those along the way. I will be travelling in proximity of the Trans Canada Highway (TCH) for a majority of my journey. I started in Victoria B.C at the end of March 2023 with the goal to reach Cape Spear NFLD by November 2023.

The Cause

While I started this journey solely for myself as a bucket list thing and a mental journey along with a life reset, I have been encouraged by many people I have met along the way along with friends to possibly add a cause which is what I'm doing here. Having donated a kidney a few years ago, donor education and support is something I have always been passionate about. Also with the mental aspect of this journey as well, mental health especially in males is something often overlooked and I think it's time it becomes more readily accepted. These same people have also wanted to donate direct to me but I have never been one to take more then I give.

What’s Happening With Your Support?

My plan is to take the proceeds of this fundraiser and split it in this way. 40% to the Kidney Foundation Of Canada, 40% to the Canadian Mental Health Association and 20% to myself (up to $10,000) to recoup costs incurred along the way. My personal primary costs have been camp sites, with the occasional hotel and air bnb mixed in along with day to day consumables.
