Tammy's Story: A Long Road to Recovery
Donation protected
After her second major car wreck, she has not only been left an amputee but unable to use either of her legs or arms. Now for the foreseeable future -- she’s currently hospitalized, wheelchair-bound, and facing a long road to recovery.
Tammy's Story:
Tammy had just finished getting licensed to become a Registered Nurse when her life flashed before her and was changed forever. In December 2017, Tammy was hit head-on by a drunk driver. Leaving her an amputee and unable to fulfill her dreams in the Medical Field. Years later, she had learned to love herself again. She recently got engaged to her future husband, picked up jobs as she could to help financially, and gained a huge loving family, life was looking up!
On Tuesday, March 21st - life took yet another huge turn. Tammy was just minutes from home in northern Missouri when a truck swerved into her lane and came straight at her. Tammy did what she could to avoid a collision. Swerving to miss the truck, she found herself hitting head-on, flipping - and landing the car on its side. The truck fled the scene. She went into immediate shock and flashbacks of the past filled her head. After speaking with Tammy, she remembers hearing a woman's voice saying "keep talking to me, help is coming," she tried but couldn't. First responders arrived on the scene; cutting the top of her car - they removed Tammy from the vehicle, leaving all things behind and transported her to the nearest trauma center. -- Upon arrival, they discovered the severity and immediately ran tests and scans. Tammy was discovered to have many broken bones: arms, wrists, fingers, sternum, back vertebrae, nerve damage, and a brain bleed. She underwent immediate surgeries and was placed in the ICU. Not able to use any of her extremities.
The next day, her fiance tracked down the car and went to collect all of the belongings. Arriving at the local tow lot, he found that everything had been rifled through. Her purse, wallet, glasses and other items were thrown about the car. Tammy had just withdrawn under 3,000 cash before her collision to put towards a new car to use for work: but it was found to be missing...
Her life going forward is going to be a long road, as she will be under hospital care for some time. The medical bills are likely to follow her for years, her home is going to need to be altered to fit her new needs and way of life. Not being able to work, on top of the money stolen, this is a huge financial burden.
As a result, and with permission, the family of Tammy is launching a Go Fund Me to assist with the medical costs, home modifications, and money stolen as she undergoes her treatments for recovery.
If you are in a spot to donate, even 5 dollars, it will not go unnoticed! No amount is too big, nor too small. Even a share of her story will be more than significant! -- Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
