Support Altadena: Eaton Wildfire Relief Fund

The Altadena Town Council has established the Altadena Eaton Fire Relief Fund to provide critical support to our neighbors who are recovering from the devastating Eaton Fire. The fund will be managed by an Advisory Committee of trusted town leaders who will oversee the fund’s structure, holdings, and eventual distribution, to ensure an equitable and transparent allocation of resources.

The Altadena Eaton Fire Relief Fund is an Altadena-specific, Altadena-centered relief fund with proceeds to be directly dispersed to Altadena fire survivors. By coordinating with trusted local organizations and community stakeholders, we’ll ensure that aid reaches those who have been impacted, guided by a deep commitment to operate with full transparency and equity.

Altadena families are struggling. Our neighbors face housing uncertainty, financial hardship, and a long road to recovery. This fund will provide direct grants for emergency housing, essential supplies, and long-term recovery efforts, helping our community rebuild and regain stability.

To administer this fund safely and securely, we are proud to partner with GoFundMe.org. GoFundMe.org will collect donations and distribute funds, informed by recommendations of the Altadena Eaton Fire Relief Fund Advisory Committee. We will also collaborate with local community groups and other key stakeholders as we distribute grants swiftly and equitably. These valued partnerships ensure transparency and efficiency—and that every dollar raised goes directly to impacted residents.

Every story of loss and displacement is unique to the families affected, but the themes are consistent. Our community faces a myriad of challenges:

  • Loss of Homes & Housing Instability – Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to ashes, leaving families without a place to stay. Many are currently in shelters, staying with relatives, or paying for temporary housing they cannot afford long-term. Renters who lost everything have nowhere to turn, and homeowners face costly rebuilding efforts without immediate financial assistance.
  • Financial Hardship – Many wildfire survivors have lost wages due to business closures, job disruptions, and destruction of work equipment. With mounting bills, insurance gaps, and emergency expenses, families are struggling to meet their most basic needs.
  • Essential Supplies & Daily Necessities – Those displaced have lost everything: clothing, food, school supplies for children, medical prescriptions, and even access to clean drinking water. The community is in desperate need of immediate relief for basic survival.
  • Emotional & Psychological Trauma – The wildfire has taken not just homes but also peace of mind. The stress of sudden displacement, financial ruin, and uncertainty about the future is overwhelming for many residents, especially seniors, children, and those with medical conditions.

With your generosity, we can provide meaningful aid to those who need it now, and ensure the long-term resilience for the town we call home.
