Abbie's Hair-raising Fund-raiser

My name is Abbie and I have been an Animal Care Assistant for the RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre for just over 8 years and I volunteered for around 2 years before that. For the last 3 years or so I have worked mainly in our small animal unit taking care of the rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, small mammals, fish, wildlife and poultry (along with anything else that might need our help). I love the variety that each day brings, and I love the challenge of meeting the needs of such a variety of animals each day. To this end I have volunteered to shave my hair to raise finds so that we can upgrade our poultry accommodation. Each year we see a number of cockerels and hens and it would be wonderful to have purpose-built accommodation chosen specially to meet their needs. This will also free up the areas where we currently house poultry so that we can help even more animals.

My hair will be cut off first and the pony tails will be donated to the Little Princess Trust (https://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/)  to hopefully make a wig for a child who may have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses and then what remains will be shaved off to a grade 2-3. The shaving will be done at the official opening of the Friends Barn at the RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen animal Centre on Sunday 28th April 2019 at 13:00.

I am hoping to raise £2,000 so that we can purchase at least two purpose-built walk-in runs with a coop or shed in each. As an incentive I have pledged to go completely bald (I won’t look too dissimilar to Uncle Fester from the Adams family!!) if we reach that target of £2,000 so please sponsor me and make this worth the complete embarrassment!!
