Alvena Cat Rescue!
Donation protected
My name is Jesse Sawitsky and I live in the small rural town of Alvena, SK. I have started this Gofundme to help raise money for the care of Evander, Dixie & Fleabag, along with any other cats that we may be able to help.
For the past few years, there has been a major escalation in the stray cat population in town. My family and I, along with a few other people in town, have been doing our best to provide some food and shelter for a number of the strays (including many who are completely feral). Over the last ~4 years, we have personally taken 10 stray cats into a local vet to be neutered/spayed & vaccinated, along with multiple other vet trips for injuries and sickness, all at our own expense. All of these cats still live in town and we have re-homed countless other kittens and adult cats that have popped up over the years.
This year has been exceptionally bad for new litters of kittens and there have been waves of viral infections going around which resulted in several kittens needing to be euthanized. In late May, Dixie & Fleabag were found abandoned at only a few weeks old and were taken in by my parents who had to bottlefeed and care for them. Both are doing very well but Fleabag has had ongoing skin irritation problems that will require some trips to the vet. Evander was also found abandoned a few weeks ago with a major respiratory infection and an eye infection so bad that his eyes were completely crusted over and sealed shut. Evander also suffered some trauma very early in his life and is missing an ear and only has two toes on his front left paw. We have already paid a few hundred dollars in vet trips + medications for Evander alone and while he has made great progress, he is still fighting to get through the respiratory infection.
Any money raised by this Gofundme will first go towards getting these kittens healthy, vaccinated, and most importantly, spayed & neutered. All three of these little creatures are some of the most loving, social & playful kittens we have ever encountered and we desperately want to find them good homes once they are healthy enough. If there is any money left over, it will be kept to help fund future rescues. Updates will be provided on this page to show full transparency on where the money is being spent.
My partner Raelynn and I are also putting up some of our art to encourage donations. By donating any amount, you will be entered in a draw to win a handmade linocut print from our company Tawdry Gubbins.
Thank you!
