Alvin and Gerri Bear Help for Medical

This fundraiser has been set up for my brother Alvin Bear, age 64. Alvin has been married to his wife Gerri since September 10, 2005. Gerri has 1 son, Harley and one granddaughter they truly love, Tyranny. Gerri also has a stepdaughter, Natalie, 3 grandsons; Chase, Michael and Justice, and 2 great-granddaughters; Kiara and Alaina who live in Ponoka Alberta. Alvin and Gerri live in Muskoday.

Alvin was first diagnosed with lung cancer in March, 2019 and his first surgery was July 17, 2019. Their medical costs have been astronomical. Aside from his surgery Alvin has been back and forth to Saskatoon for several chemotherapy treatments, clinical visits, and assessments. Initially he and Gerri were covering the travel expenses, hotels and all costs themselves. At one point the Muskoday Health Center started to help them financially. Which they are so grateful for. One cost they had no help with was for medication prescribed by a pain management doctor. Due to chronic pain caused by two injuries to his cervical/neck. It affected his spinal canal, which causes him in pain from head to toe. Since there was no safe surgery available, he was placed on high dosage of pain medications. First Nation Indian Health Branch would not pay for these medications. So, for years Gerri and Alvin have had to. The cost was almost $9,474.65 annually. They have been paying this for several years. From the first prescription to date records show they have paid $223,229. 15 out of pocket. This put them in debt. A debt that weighs heavily on Alvin. It keeps him awake at night, and hurts at his soul because of the love he has for Gerri.

In 2019 Alvin went into remission. However, in 2022 he was again diagnosed with cancer. Now stage 4 lung cancer. This past November, when all treatments failed, he was given 6 months to live. It is with great appreciation we ask for all his friend's family and community to come together to support the Bear Family with this devastating struggle. Your support for medical expenses and funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated. All funds will go to help alleviate the financial demand on Gerri who will be left alone to ensure all travel and medical expenses are paid for. Alvin's last request is that Gerri not be left with a mountain of debt because he has been so sick fighting this cancer.
