Always Laylow: Phase 2

Dear Toronto,

As I sit down to pen this letter, my heart is heavy yet brimming with gratitude. Laylow Brewery on College has been a labor of love, a dream brought to life, and an artistic haven in the heart of this incredible city for the past seven years. "Hip Hop Lives Here," and it truly does.

Today, we share that on December 24th, 2023, we will be closing our doors at 1144 College Street, but let me be clear – this is not the end. Far from it. Laylow is not saying goodbye; we're merely turning a page and have our sights on some big plans for 2024…but we could use your help!

To keep the Laylow spirit alive and continue to brew, create and evolve through new events across the city, we have launched a GoFundMe in the hopes of raising $30,000 CAD.

Firstly, let us say, we know this is a lot of money and that there are so many tragedies taking place across the world that could use it more than us. However, if you do have the means to support us, we would be eternally grateful.

A permanent space does not define us. For anyone who has walked through our doors, shared a conversation, grooved to the boom bap beats, and contributed to the rich tapestry of memories we've woven together, you know that Laylow is not defined by the location, but by the people within it. The GoFundMe will go directly into pop-ups, new product launches, community collaborations and other initiatives that continue to bring this city together in the most authentic way that we know.

Until we shut our doors, we will continue with our regular programming of events. Stay tuned to our Instagram for all of the details and hopefully, we can see you again before the end of the year.

For everyone that has been a part of the journey so far, please accept our heartfelt thanks. You've made Laylow Brewery what it is today, and we can't wait to share our next chapter with you. This is not a goodbye; it's a "see you soon."

Your Donations Will Go Towards:

The Beer: After years of brewing in our back kitchen, we have built the knowledge and relationships to partner with an Ontario brewer. This will allow us to continue brewing our signature style beers that the community has come to love, scale production and local delivery and focus on distribution with beer stores, the LCBO and our favourite bars in the city. We hope to start off-site brewing in Q1 of 2024.

The Events: 2024 will be the beginning of the Laylow event series. Bringing the Laylow spirit across the city, we’ll continue to create spaces for people to gather, with showcases from the best DJ’s, live musicians and comedians in the community. Our well-known events like Layow Laughs, Fresh Produce Beat Makers, Soul Slam Open Mic and many other events will continue. The first events will take place late Q1 of 2024.

The Merch: A staple of Laylow, our merchandise will continue to live on and evolve. We plan to bring more and higher-quality garments to the Laylow shop, including collaborations with other like minded brands in Toronto.
