Always Levasseur Strong: ALS Awareness

Husson University Softball would like to help raise awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. In and effort to give back, we have chosen a very passionate and well-deserving candidate, Noel Levasseur. Noel had been coaching girls’ softball for an accumulative of 25 years  until he was diagnosed in 2017. Unable to physically model his perseverance and love for helping others, Noel has spent the last two-and-a-half years advocating for a cure. He has participated in numerous observatory and clinical trials, and represented Maine for National ALS Advocacy Day in Washington. Noel also serves as a NEALS Ambassador for ALS Research and Advocacy, serves on the CDMRB (Congressionally Directed Medical Review Board) sponsored by the Department of Defense for ALS Research and Development, on the Northern New England ALS Association Chapter advisory committee, and on the Portland ALS Walk and Events Committee. Just recently he received the Annual Hero Award from the National ALS Association (1 of 4 awarded nationally) for his work in Advocating and Raising Awareness for ALS.


Noel spent many hours helping local players develop into driven leaders, hardworking individuals, and college student athletes by focusing on more than what happens on the field. He believes softball “is a sport where we can learn many life lessons: from teamwork, dedication, hard work and sacrifice to the values of winning and losing with class and humility.” Husson softball would like to give back to a softball community member who helped instill these values into the lives of so many softball players in the state of Maine.


Please join us on April 13th at the O’Keefe Softball Complex at Husson University to help us raise money for Noel to live a more comfortable and manageable lifestyle which will allow him to continue to be a voice for those who cannot.
