The Lee family is suffering from a loss that no parent wants to face, the loss of a child. Over the last five days, their family has gone from a happy group of five to a damaged one of four. On the evening of Feb. 15, The Lee's oldest daughter Alyssa was on her way home from her second day at her new job, when the innocent teenage driver was hit head-on by a drunk driver. As her parents arrived at the scene, they were informed that their sixteen-year-old daughter was in the back of an ambulance and that CPR was being performed. By the time they arrived at Stormont Vail, Alyssa was gone. Her body was hooked up to machines to keep her heart and lungs working, but ultimately her brain was not. It would take two days of more tests before the state of KS would confirm the brain-death of a minor. Due to Alyssa being an organ donor, it would be another day before her heart would be allowed to stop.
At 1:08 pm on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, Alyssa would have her heart, liver, and kidneys harvested to save the lives of strangers. For those of us who knew her and loved her, this sounds like the ultimate way to honor her, to know that she would not die in vain, but would be able to help others as she was prone to do here while alive. Alyssa was such a bright and beautiful young lady who had an amazing future ahead of her before her life was tragically cut short by the careless, irresponsible action of a drunk who was driving illegally without insurance.
We are hosting this campaign in the hopes of raising funds to help the family in this time of need. Funds will go to ensure that the Lee Family do not have to suffer any more hardship than they already are facing. In this time of grief over the loss of their eldest child, there are unknown situations they will still have to fight. Medical costs, funeral costs, attorney costs, plus missing work while they stayed at the hospital with Alyssa, the missed work while meeting with funeral personnel, and more missed work in the future when they may have to be in the courtroom waiting for their daughter's killer to be convicted for his crimes. On top of all of this, there will be counseling for themselves and their remaining two children.
With all of this in mind, would you please take a moment and help donate to assist them in their time of need?
