Donation protected
In April 2019 Alyssa visited a walk-in treatment center for a swollen mass in her neck. Unknowing what the mass was, the physician recommended she follow up with an ear, nose and throat doctor for further testing.
After performing multiple tests including ultrasounds, CT scan, PET scan and several biopsies of the area, Alyssa was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma in stage III.
After receiving diagnosis, Alyssa began her treatments at the Harry Grey Cancer Center at Hartford Hospital where the team has been doing a great job at helping Alyssa battle the illness. Dealing with a tremendous amount of side effects from the Chemo therapy treatments, one of them being a dangerously low immune system, which caused Alyssa to stop working at her recent place of employment, Effie's Place and to take some time off from her studies at Tunxis Community College. These major changes are due to her side effects including her low immune system which would put her at jeopardy, especially when working with the public or sitting in a classroom. These types of environments could increase her chances of becoming extremely ill beyond the typical effects of the cancer and Chemo treatments.
After just only two of the proposed eight bi-weekly Chemo treatments, Alyssa has already begun to loose her hair, which caused her to purchase a wig, extreme fatigue, nausea, hot flashes, mouth sores and head sensitivity - to name a few. The loss of employment and expenses that arise from the ongoing battle with cancer are an unnecessary stress on Alyssa while she is trying to fight this battle. With every appointment comes a cost, with every treatment, surgery, procedure, comes a cost. These unexpected costs are something someone cannot simply prepare for.
We are asking for help, whether it be in prayer, reaching out or helping to offset the costs associated with this diagnosis. Our goal is to offset any out of pocket expenses and loss of employment income as Alyssa fights this battle. We are thankful for any and all of the support we will receive.
So. Again. My family and I say thank you for your support. For your prayers. For your blessings.
