We are Match: Lit.
OUR MISSION
Match: Lit’s mission is to educate, engage, and inspire both audiences and New York City youth alike through quality theatrical productions rooted—but not limited to—the works of William Shakespeare. To bring this mission to life, Match: Lit aims to:
Educate New York City’s youth through a free after-school program—with ties to nearby preparatory and public schools—rooted in teaching the language, the history, and the works of Shakespeare;
Provide artistic opportunities for socially cognizant New York City actors and creators, both emerging and experienced, who will together create stunning new visions from a respected old canon;
Awaken our audiences with culturally relevant and stimulating productions of plays—those which they may have seen before, but now will experience from a new perspective: “Shakespeare in a new light.”
Our priority is artistic integration: where actors of all kinds come together in the rehearsal room to create beautiful work, and where students of all kinds come together in the classroom to provide mutual understanding.
OUR STORY
Assembled in 2015, we are an independent ensemble seeking to fund our 2017 productions, which includes an Untitled Diversity Project and Henry VI, Parts I & II. In 2016, you helped us raise enough to bring William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and The Tragedy of Othello to audiences! To see us in action, please visit www.matchlit.org.

While we would love to rely solely on ticket sales for financial support, we would love it more if we could have your support: lovers, friends, family, and patrons of the arts. We want to give back to our NYC arts community: camps and classes, art and entertainment for people in any walk of life that want to see theatre stay alive. But in order to begin the journey, we are looking for a little boost of hope—and it can begin with you.
Just a little bit from one person will go an incredibly long way if the trend sets. Help us make good art.
