Amanda and Mark Stillbirth Recovery Expenses

I am Samantha, reaching out with a heavy heart to share the heartbreaking journey that my dear friends Amanda, Mark and their children have been through. Life sometimes throws challenges that are beyond comprehension, and this is one of those moments.

Amanda and Mark were expecting a bundle of joy, a little one named Zachary, who brought abundant happiness and dreams into their lives. Unfortunately, fate took an unimaginable turn, and on 11/27/23, at 16 weeks 6 days, they faced the devastating loss of their beloved baby boy.

The pain they are experiencing is indescribable. Amanda went to the hospital with the hope of hearing Zachary's heartbeat, after some concerns they had when trying to find the heartbeat at home. Unfortunately, they were unable to find a heartbeat and they had no choice but to induce labor. They endured the heart-wrenching process of labor, bringing Zachary into the world at 5:21 am, weighing 4.55 ounces and measuring 8 inches. He was perfect in every way, a tiny angel who left an everlasting impact on their hearts.

The days that followed have been a blur of grief, tears, and an overwhelming sense of loss. Amanda and Mark spent precious hours with Zachary, cherishing every moment, and creating memories that will stay with them forever. They took another painful step by choosing an urn and necklaces to keep Zachary's ashes close.

Grieving the loss of a child is an unimaginable journey, one that no parent should endure. In the midst of this heartbreaking time, Amanda and Mark find themselves not only grappling with the emotional toll but also facing unexpected financial burdens associated because of the inability to take paid time off. Unfortunately, since she had labor at 16 weeks she may not be able to get maternity leave which will still only cover 60% of her pay. Mark is allotted no paid time off to spend time healing. Although they will not get to experience the joy of a 6 weeks bonding, Amanda still had labor and needs the time to physically recover. Amanda, Mark and the kids all need time to process and be together as a family while they move through this earth-shaking grief.
