Amanda R Norris
Tax deductible
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Amanda R Norris, aged 56, on November 12, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Tim, two sons Conor and Gavin, her mother Angela, three sisters, Paula, Helen and Orla, and their families and a very large extended family in Ireland (Amanda had over 60 first cousins).
Amanda was born in Dublin Ireland and grew up on Kilmore Drive, Artane. Growing up in Dublin, she enjoyed pushing around her trolly, sitting quietly in the corner of the sitting room as a child so she could stay up late watching movies meant for adults and reading as many books as she could. She lived a life of curiosity which led to her career choice. She was a graduate of University College Dublin with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Amanda was an engineer with an alphabet soup of letters after her name including being a Chartered Engineer in the UK and a Professional Engineer in the US. Her engineering career started with British Petroleum followed by a long career as an engineer in the property insurance industry working for Factory Mutual, Global Risk Consultants and finally for her own company, D5G Consultants.
She met her future husband when they were both working for Factory Mutual in London. Amanda felt sorry for the American eating at cheap take out’s and invited him over for dinner. They started dating and moved to the Reno Nevada area to live their lives together, getting married, having two kids, being active in the local community and were married for 27 years.
She had many interests outside of work including teaching Tai Chi, knitting, writing, befuddling children who did not understand her foreign sense of humor and walking in circles around the kitchen to increase her step count. She was very accomplished with a black belt in taekwondo, certified Tai Chi instruction and author of three self-published novels.
She will be missed.
