Amanda’s Double Lung Transplant

Donation protected
Hi this is my sister Amanda. 25 years ago Amanda received her first Gift of Life in the form of a double lung transplant. She was born with a rare genetic mutation that effected her lungs, causing the need for her transplant. This gift has provided her an additional 25 years of life. However, transplanted organs don’t last forever. Amanda’s lung function has decreased at a faster rate these past few years. She has found herself back on oxygen and has difficulty completing daily activities alone. Her lung function recently tested at 22%. She has made the difficult decision to move towards a second lung transplant. She has been working through the testing at Cleveland Clinic throughout this year and will be completing the final test in November. From there, her case will be presented to the Transplant Board and she will be put on the transplant list. When she gets a transplant, it will be a long recovery process. She will have to stay living in close proximity to the hospital out of state for a minimum of 3 months-assuming everything goes perfectly. Although a lot is covered through insurance, the housing and living after the transplant is not covered.

Amanda is the strongest person I have encountered in my life thus far. I have seen her grow in more ways than I can count and she truly is a miracle. Not only does Amanda work full time at Rochester Regional she makes time to do what she loves as the proud owner of Tiny Woman Creations! - her creativity is incredible, she has the ability to make such beautiful earrings that truly express who she is at the core.
As her sister I have seen her go through a multitude of changes in her life, but not a singular time did she ever get discouraged by her disabilities. She truly is full of strength, love and compassion. Each day she wakes up with a smile on her face and never ceases to amaze me.

If you would like to contribute to help Amanda with her after care from her second double lung transplant we would deeply appreciate it.
We as a family even appreciate the kind words and thoughts/prayers for Amanda in this time.

To the strongest person I know❤️
